Some guys here do a good job doing both impressions. I do like to see focus on one impression tho. I do two but one of them is Viking LH, so its kind of easy. Plus after years of loving medieval history and the dark ages i've spent about 3000 dollars on it all.
Now time for ww2! I love the history of Eastern Europe. Europe in general is a great place to learn about.
I've seen Lev's German impression, he does a very good job. He seems to be a very "get it all right" kind of guy. I cant wait to see his Soviet impression.
As for some of the other bollocks running around here as of late, i dont know nor do i care what they look like. LOL if i wanna look at ugly i'll visit my landlord.
Rob, i know you have some good photos of u and your group activities you should put one up for the POTM on this board.

Oh definitely - people do two or three and it's up to standard, no question. I just reckon it takes a year minimum to work up a new portrayal. For example - the Militsya is a very new thing to me. Before I was doing Internal Troops exclusively for five years and can do; (without borrowing any gear) 39-43 VV Enlisted 39-43 GUGB Komander (I only have walking out form) 43-46 VV Enlisted 43-46 VV Officer (I only have walking out form) 43-46 PV Enlisted (I don't have polovoi pogoni for PV though) And there's still minor missing items to be filled in all of them! And the next pressing thing is to get GURKM (Militsya) form put together properly, because that's our clubs official other portrayal. We all cobbled the Militsya stuff together at the last minute for Borodino last year, so it's still not exactly as we want it yet. Endless bloody things to do! Oh well..... ;D You want a photo for the forum? This one looks kinda cool I reckon - this was Medvezhegorsk, the place is roughly on the same line of latitude (62°N) as the Yukon so it never got dark when we were there last Summer!

Now thats how you do it. I would like to see more order, and marching in our units here. I've only been to one event but, from what i could tell it was a jumble of standing about until the unit was called up. We did pretty good but i would of rather walked to the tactical than ride in a pickup truck.Thats a good amount of people. looks pretty there.

Zayats, he will not show a photo. B/c he knows that plenty of people will sit here and find all his faults at it. He knows his is no better. We just have to ignore him from now on. To the best of our abilities, and soon he'll get bored like a Elementary school bully and go pick on someone else. Ya ponyal. Ya know, the company that the forum ultimately belongs to and hosts? If you don't speak English, you are SOL. This is what happens when you blindly create a forum because you can't follow rules or someone hurts your feelings. I could care less what happens to this place but I think the Admin needs to do some homework really soon or you might see this next time you login: Soviet Collectors and Reenactors Forum

Thank you for your kind words Comrade! And yes I understand the reasoning behind why some groups frown upon multiple impressions. As to WWII reenacting I am first and foremost dedicated to 7./FJR.6, but from here grows the story of my brand new RKKA impression. Phil Keller ( our unit CO) and I were discussing how everyone ( German impressions that is) want to do Ost Front events but bemoan the lack of Soviets troops at least in our neck of the woods. We thought that perhaps by kicking in and supporting the Ivans we could help get things going. Phil is also an associate member of the the 95th Rifles so our thought was to form a "squad" to help them out when possible. to show some collective support. We will be following their guidelines, we are not just wandering around aimlessly! So to answer your question on the tunic I will be getting the hidden button front M-35 from Trident. ( I've been doing some trading and selling of other goodies to get my RKKA going. ) This will also allow me and Phil and soon some other members to do things when we are not doing sanctioned and scheduled FJR.6 events. We would love to go to Mariongrad, one of my comrades (who I really need to meet in person!) is Yuri (dixxieflyer) and we have an invitation to go to the trenches of Mariongrad and fight the Hitlerites with him! But regardless you are correct even if I only do it once or twice a year I want to do it RIGHT! For me a lot of the enjoyment is learning and discovering the new things that I only had a peripheral knowledge of before. Heck I had a whole Romanian impression once, never used it, but it was pretty darn good. Uniform from Schipper and the works. (Just not enough interest here in the mid west for it. ) But it was a lot of fun researching and putting together the kit. Now I do not ever claim to be spot on or perfect. There is always room for improvement I say. I have already made some mistakes ( which I've corrected ) in my RKKA impression but that is part of the process. Cant' wait to put it on and get some helpful hints and feed back on it. I'll post it when I can but not before I feel it has reached the right level. Many thanks all! Lev

Well, Vladimir Putin is a VERY good fascist. He learned well at the Soviet troth, studied Hitler, Mussolini, and all the rest of the tyrannical despots of history. I will concede Putin is smarter, he hides his tyranny, but it is no less there. His sabre rattling, and his chest pounding makes it clear that he intends to restore the Soviet/Tsarist empire. I am actually surprised that he hasn't invaded the Ukraine yet! Boridin This is fantastic. LOL I love a good arguement. Let me add fuel! ;D Putin, and how Russia is run now? How do you both feel about that? Good or Bad? Personally, I like Mr. Vlad Putin! I find him rather admirable. He has *zaz*.o.o. I enjoy reading about him, and some of the things he says to people. Important people at that. He has that "I'm Russian, so go F**K urself" kinda attitude.

Martin mentions the "So drunk they had to take away his weapon" incident.
First off, I have no idea who this is supposed to actually be (the alleged perp). I have never spoken to, or heard from anyone who actually was present when this allegedly occurred, but I do find it interesting, that this "story" suddenly appeared after Conley Sluss got his head handed to him on two other forums.
As to Martins allegation, that no information is passed here, or discussed here, that is his opinion, and he is welcome to it, but I have found more useful information here, than on his forum. Yes, I still belong to that other one, and still visit it regularly, as I do find gems there once in awhile. Like any forum, it is only as good as the members, but hey, that is true of life as well.
I would say this to Martin, if you feel so strongly, you should either join us here, and impart your wisdom, or just remain quiet, and not attempt to stir up trouble. You an I have had our disagreements over the years, and that is all part of the hobby, but there is no animosity from me, towards you. I encourage you to adopt a similar attitude, and either pitch in to make it better, or just go away, if you aren't willing to help make it better.
The world has enough problems without people stirring them up in our respective hobbies. I do my hobbies to relax, not get more of the same BS I get at work.

All,
I agree, feeding a masochistic parasite like the martoonish one would be like wrestling with gay pigs, they like it for all the wrong reasons and wrestling with them makes you latent too. Martoon already said he thought this forum was gay and wanted nothing to do with it but he is still here. We are not gay, but he is still here, which means he is gay and trying to gay us up and in his tiny blue tree'd world he tries to gay up people with verbal abuse. He claims he does not drink ... too bad, I must assume then he is the result of cousins marrying for him to be such a troglodyte. From now on we should only talk about him and not to him, or just ignore him.
He is really not much trouble, and this IS the 'heated discussions thread' we use for blowing off steam, but ultimately, wrestling with a gay pig like martoon will just turn us into gay pigs and regardless of the result, he likes it. Plus its an insult to the gay pig union who doen't even want martoon as a member, and although I do not care what gay pigs think, I probably would care more about them than I do martoon. They probably have better table manners and bath more often.
Otherwise in my book everyone else here is okay, no harm done and no grudges. Shaken and Forgettaboudit !
Za Rodinu !

ps I have seen alot of stills and videos re GPW events in Russia and other Eastern Euro nations, they do it very well indeed ! The Czechs do a fair number too and there are alot of T34's over there ! very envious of them am I! and they seem to spare no expense with charges in the field and blowing up buildings for effect ! quite a spectacle !

'Allo Komrade Baiyodya!
( Nice name by the way ! )
Indeed ! I would love to go to the Motherland to one of their events ! that would rock ! I gotta hand it to the easterners, they really put alot into their events, and in general that part of the world has alot less $ for hobbies let alone food and housing, so for them to put on a big event must be a real sacrifice... I am sure they save up for such event all year long!
As for my earlier comments about GI units, sure, we all know that all sides have their share of losers, I figured martoon to be one of those 'holier than thou' blowhard GI's and I was just trying to get him to squirm in his panties and give him a well deserved wedgie ! LOL !
But I stand by my comments insofar as my neck of the woods are concerned, GPW is growing and people are getting bored of the chairborne gimpfantry of the endless series of "Easy Company" borrowed glory weekend soldiers and their 'can't get my para uniform in the field dirty' nonsense who quit at halftime to go pound suds once they start sweating in their starched jump tunics and pants. It may be the different in your neck of the woods, Davide, but in the NE, we are getting bored of the GI's and are trying to do more Italian and GPW theatre events to get a different mix of units involved to break up the 'Shaving Ryan's Privates" syndome and bring a bit more discipline into the hobby. We are sick of the D-day mentality and are trying to refocus the hobby on a broader historical basis so that the public has a bigger view of WW2 than a handful of old allied propaganda newsreels that tend to ignore the Mediterranian and GPW theatres. But I agree that safety issues from ANY unit regardless of impression are a no go and I certainly don't give anyone a let at the events I work just because they wear this or that uniform! I have just found that the GI's float around more in that 'hollywierd haze' and it distracts them more w/r/t safety issues. I DO find that the GI units that do non-airborne are a bit more sedate in their overall impressions and attention to safety issues ... its the 'hollywierd' oriented units that have more young guys and strutters and they tend to be more distracted and less careful or committed to 'doing it right'. The other types that quit the field are the geezer XXL types who tire quickly and therefore quit early, you know the paras that are so big they need a cargo chute and a C5 Galaxy to possibly load their girth unto and off a jump plane ! They belong at LH events, not tacticals, or perhaps in a non-AB unit riding a vehicle.
Just my 2 kopeks !

If you see the Russian G.I's in the US section of the forum you'll see they DON'T do 101st.
They do 4th Infantry because they want to show a regular unit that HASN'T been covered by Hollywierd.
Because doing G.I's is like doing Soviet in the West, and still an uncommon thing, they want to generate interest and enthusiasm for it so they do it 110% - as in even wearing the underwear, sleeping in foxholes, and living on C-Rations for the whole weekend.
All of that is because they don't want fingers pointing that they're only interested in movies.
Indeed if any of you (and they would love that!) went as their guest, it would come with the warning that you were going to get sweaty, dirty, tired, and blisters. No coolers with those guys!
(with writing in Russian - yaghhh, big deal! It was one post! If vast sections of the board were in Russian then it would be an issue)
