Tovarisch;
Ran into an "interesting" situation lately. Some members of the re-enacting community engaging in deep animosity, and even threatening violence to coerce other impressions to stay away from events.
Has anyone else ever run into this?

Seems to be the norm these days. We are our worst enemy.
Had a friend tell me people were doing this to him. I told him to not worry about it, if anyone touches you file charges with the police. bet they won't do that again. They touch your stuff stand back and film it. File charges. Bet they wont do that again after they get out of jail and get slapped with a civil complaint. Trash talk is trash talk until you up the ante by playing it smart.

Only heard rumors here and there. It seems those that make "threats" usually fade away in short order.
I would suggest reporting that to the event organizer, your unit commander, and reenacting organization who should promptly dis-invite the entire unit. "Distractions" should be removed from events even if they have a tank since the last thing we need in reenacting is a couple of fools getting into fights etc. Easier said then done of course.

TJ The real problem is that the other unit involved is a rather large, well funded unit, that likes to bully everyone around them. Since they sponsor, or are involved in many events, most smaller units are afraid to piss them off, so they just keep their heads low, and take the crap. As to the specifics I referenced at the beginning, this particular event, the organizers were notified. They suggested I notify the Police, which I had already done. Because of the way the threats were worded, the FBI was brought in, as the threats qualified as "Hate". The FBI is working on this, but I am sure it is fairly low on their radar.

the best way if possible is to vote with your feet and rubles and do not support events they sponsor ...
