Tovarischi;
Like many of you, I have purchased items from foreign vendors in the past. Until the last two years or so, I never had any problems with the shipments from those overseas vendors.
Recently, I purchased several of the old Soviet camo nets offered on E-Bay. This order was the third time I had ordered these nets. The first two shipments arrived in the U.S. within a couple weeks from the date of my payment, and cleared Customs within days.
This last order was a new problem for me. I placed the order, paid for it, and it was shipped. It arrived in NYC, and went into Customs at JFK. It sat there for five weeks, and then was sent back to the Ukraine, as "rejected". No reason given. Again, this was the third time I had ordered this exact same item, but this time, they were rejected. Once they got back to the seller, he opened them, repacked them, and shipped them back to me.
Again, they hit U.S. Customs, and were held. After about five weeks, I contacted the U.S. Customs Service, and asked what the problem was. I got a very cryptic response, but it boiled down to some other Federal agency had put a hold on the shipment. Customs did not, or would not tell me which agency it was, or why the shipment was being held.
E-Bay would not intervene, since the seller had shipped the items, twice.
More interestingly, within two days after I contacted Customs, the information on the shipment, using the originators tracking number disappeared on both the USPS, and Customs service websites.
I don't know what to do, but thought you all might be interested in this development.
