What: Grenada Spring Tactical
Where: Grenada Lake State Park, Grenada, MS
When: March 23-25th-- 2007
Cost: $10/person
Scenario: Western Front-- late war German border-- more specifics soon
Schedule: Friday March 23 registration opens 1200 hrs-- closes 2200 hrs
Saturday: Registration opens 0600 hrs-- closes 0800 hrs
Battle starts: 0800 hrs-- lunch break-- resumes-- closes 1500 hrs
Sunday skirmish for those who stay overnight Saturday
Vendors welcome-- Wephaus and CCYDNE will be present-- area for swap meet

A change this year-- there will be three camping areas-- an allied and axis period camping area and modern camping area-- The change-- you must stow all non-period camping gear (ice chests, etc) if camping in period camping area and must maintain a period first person impression as much as possible to remain in period area. You may leave period camping area (to go to vending, portalets, non-period camps, etc.) with an issued pass. We will be judging camp areas and will patrol with MPs/ Feldpolizei.

We are also interested in speaking to unit leaders who would be like to attend a reenactor conference this summer to discuss issues of events in our region, unit organizational issues and cooperative efforts to better the hobby. There will be opportunity for discussion of such a conference at this event. If interested, please contact me off-line for details.

One last detail: We have been informed that this is the weekend of a MAJOR CIvil War battle at Port Hudson. This conflict date was not chosen intentionally for Grenada-- it is based solely on work
schedules of event organizers and Park officials and was the only date available. If you were going to go to Port Hudson, no biggie-- go to Port Hudson and come to Grenada in the fall. This event will still be here. Pick the event that you enjoy the most.

Here's some more information on Grenada.

Overall Allied commander has been selected for Grenada, MS event (March 23rd-25th). His name is James Breitling of the 2nd ID of Mobile, AL. If you are an allied commander and plan on attending the Grenada event, please contact James at: [e-mail] or [phone] to report your troop strength and get information on battle plans and coordination efforts.

German overall commander to be announced soon. Stay tuned. Meantime, all German commanders please contact either Don Johnson ([e-mail]) or Lauren Pursley ([e-mail]), or [phone] asap to get info.

Also, the 2nd ID will be hosting a School of the Soldier for all GI units at Fort Morgan, AL on March 10/11 weekend. Participants will learn soldier skills and will camp inside the historic fort Saturday night. Contact Mr. Breitling at the phone number above for more details on this fun weekend event.
