Tovarischi; Here are pictures of the model 1909 Cavalry Troopers helmet I got a few years back. I took my time, and did the restoration correctly. I had a proper replacement liner custom produced by Prairie Flower Leather works. I used his Pickelhaube chinstrap, even though it is not exactly correct, it is pretty close, and close enough for me. I had the excess holes carefully welded closed, then cleaned up the welds, and used finishing auto body putty to fill the minor gaps. I then bead blasted the old/original paint off, and repainted it with a matching color paint. This was the Tsarist Armies response to the Pickelhaube. It was produced in leather for parade use, and light pressed steel for field use. The Officers field version had a stamped cockade on the front, while the enlisted did not. I choose to leave the cockade off this helmet, so that I could also use it for an early Red Army/Revolutionary Guards Cavalry helmet. These are the shell as I received it from the Ukraine. The next set of pictures will be, as restored Boridin

I am really getting to hate PhotoBucket. For some reason, they are not allowing my pictures of the finished helmet to be displayed!
