Tovarisch Boyesh;
Because of inclement weather, live fire has been rescheduled.
The live fire training, and qualifications is now scheduled for 20,21,22 May, 2011, at the training site in southern Lancaster county, PA.
If you need directions please contact me.
Also, if you plan to attend please let me know. We do have access to a blockhouse, and will be sleeping inside it. I expect to have cooks on site, so it is important to know if you want to participate in the meal plan, so I can give you a price. Obviously, the more who participate in the meal plan, the cheaper it gets.
If you only want to fire for familiarization. You can bring whatever amount of ammo you wish to use, and you will not need to meet the below listed qualification standards, however, you will not be eligible for any marksmanship awards either.
If you wish to try to qualify:
We will be doing both rifle, and pistol qualifications. Rifle quals will involve a minimum of 100 rounds for actual qualification, and 50 rounds for pistol quals. Bring your own ammo for this event, as the 25th WILL NOT provide any ammo. If you wish to also fire practice rounds that is an extra amount. I strongly recommend that you have your rifle rounds loaded in stripper clips as the cycles of fire are timed, and there will be limited time for alibi fire.
The standards for qualification are as follows:
Rifle: 100 rounds firing at 100 meters. You will be firing at a standard military human silhouette target. Any hit fully within the boundary of the target will be counted as a hit. Any round only partially within the target is scored as a miss.
Your orders of fire will be:
20 standing, offhand, non-supported
20 kneeling non-supported
20 sitting supported
40 prone supported
Cycles of fire will be in the order as posted above.
69 hits, or below is unqualified.
70 to 79 hits on target is qualified.
80 to 89 hits is qualified as Marksman
90 + hits is expert, and will be awarded the marksmanship badge (presented at a subsequent event)
No scoped rifles will be used for quals, however, anyone who wishes to fire in a scoped rifle AFTER quals are completed, time permitting will be allowed to do so.
Pistol standards are as follows:
50 rounds
10 rounds standing, offhand, non-supported
20 rounds standing/crouching supported
20 rounds standing/crouching firing supported around a barrier
35 to 45 hits is qualified
46 + hits is expert, and will be awarded recognition at a future event.
All weapons will be inspected for cleanliness (safe to fire live ammo), and all ammo will be inspected for safety before any trooper is permitted on the range. Depending on the number of participants, we may need to operate both the rifle, and pistol ranges simultaneously, however this will be determined by notification of registrations.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Safety briefings will be conducted immediately prior to movement to the range.
All participants are required to follow all commands of the Range Safety Officers. Violations may result in your expulsion from the event.
