Tovarischi,
I have returned from our glorious victory over the nyemtzi fascists at Mariongrad.
Three of us arrived about 1730 hrs to find Dmitri Konev hovering over a nice large pot of shchi, which was enjoyed by fascist and Soviet alike. (The rumors that we mistreat Namtsi are untrue as you can see!) ;D Sunset found a steady stream of traffic into the Don River bridgehead, mostly Soviet, and a scattering of Germans. Some of the more stalwart Frontoviks decided to sleep in the Soviet works, and by the time a few trips were made down the hill, we had assembled seven frontoviks who, along with trench lanterns made from the tin cans of Lend-Lease vtoroy front myaso, a small cookfire, and a captured battery-powered field entertainment radio playing broadcasts from Moscow, had a fine time on a pleasant late summer's night.
Morning dawned, and by the S&A formation we had 20+ Soviets to face off against approximately seven fascists. Once all troops were in position, we wasted no time in moving out against the scourge of the Motherland. Of course, trying to pin down seven Germans in that much terrain was like trying to herd cats. The Germans, with their backs to the local ferry, fought like wildcats, and gave as good as they got. We eventually, of course, overcame them, and retired to our works.
Before we could crack open a can of sprats for a mid-day meal, the fascists had the temerity to counterattack against our works. This was indicative of their desperate situation, for no help or aid was coming their way. This attack was as annoying, and about as dangerous as the bite of a mosquito and was soon eliminated to the last man.
After a relaxing meal in the midday sun, we assembled our troops to find out what Fritz was up to that afternoon. After some quick and scattered fire-fights, we eventually pushed them back into their works, where they were eventually overcome.
Satisfied that their numbers were no longer a threat to us, we repaired to our own works, and taunted them into attacking us again. After this short and deadly action was concluded, all eventually made their way down to the parking area, where all loaded up and went home.
Bottom line up front as Luther and his brethren say, it was good event. Lots of comradeship/Kameradschaft, all were safe, no injuries, and all seemed to have a good time. I cannot wait until the January event, we should have even more Soviets then. Be sure and mark it on your calendars when we post a date here soon!
