Hello! I've seen the patterns for plash palatkas and canteen covers posted on various sites, and I'm wondering if anyone may know of a source for dimensions and construction details of the RKKA soldier's leather equipment belt. I dabble in leatherwork, and have recently acquired some iron roller buckles that appear to be suitable for the purpose. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Not sure I have ever seen a pattern for an equipment belt. They are so "plain-Jane". I would say your best bet is to go ahead and make them to fit the buckles you have, assuming your buckles are of the correct size, and I'm sure there might have been some variance in those.

Tovarischi,
As Yuri said they are a fairly simple design to re-create. I have made several of them plus a few of the leather reinforced web belts. Nothing difficult to do but it just takes time.
There are several different variations of the leather equipment belt used by the RKKA.
As a general rule though the basic design is the same with the difference being whether it was stitched or riveted as well as the placement of keepers and type of buckles used.
I have saved all sorts of jpegs of belts over the years and I will see if I can get them posted to Dimas Archives.
In the mean time such places as Ebay and other research sites will give you some good pics of the belts as well as getting copies of Shalito's books on the subject.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Dima
