As a retired LEO (Law Enforcement Officer [post U.S. Army]), I like to learn about cops in other nations, and cultures.

The civil police of the Soviet Union, AKA the civil militia, seem to have worn a dark blue, or medium grey uniform, cut similar to the military uniform.

If anyone out there has any other pictures, or info, I would appreciate getting access to it.

I have considered doing a civil militia impression, just for the S&Gs of it. So any help will be great!

The soviet security services are as varied as the Axis... lotsa variations... I seem to remember them also having a white tunic from a poster I saw and then there was the VOKhR that ran alot of various security functions for the state including gulags, railways, factories, etc.

www.soviet-power.com has some Russki cop hats that they say are like the ww2 militzia hats I just discovered... plus a special police investigators badge.

I am interested in the civil militia, not all the other entities that existed in the SU. You are correct, there was a white Kitel style jacket, but that was (based on what I have read) really only used by traffic cops in cities.

I am after the regular cops type militia.

I looked at the hat you referenced. While it seems to be the correct style, it has the wrong cockade. The correct militia cockade is difficult to find.

Just to help out with what I am looking for, here are pictures of some of the items that I know are for the militia uniform.

I do not have any of these items, and would like to find them, but I am also interested in information about the National Militia, and especially any pictures of them, and their uniforms.

I have also seen belt buckles with just a pair of crossed rifles on them ... what part of the service would that have been ?

Not sure, but my guess would be it was for the "Factory Defense Force" each factory had.
