Tovarischi;
I recently dared to ask why they never, or rarely post any pictures of Red Army re-enactors on THAT other forum. The thread drew quite a bit of ire from the moderators, to the point that some of them sent me veiled threats in PMs.
One of the threats was that if I kept up my effort, they would kill the POTW option.
Well, I kept asking the question, since their answers were lame, at least in my opinion, and guess what? They killed POTW this week,
They say it is a bandwidth problem, but it just seems too coincidental to me!
I understand that U.S., and German are the two largest impressions in the U.S., and perhaps even the overall re-enactor community, but Red Army is certainly the fastest growing, and is rapidly becoming a serious impression.
So, I feel it is only fair for us to get a POTW once, in awhile.
Guess they don't agree....again!
BTW: Is there any possibility to get a POTW option on here?

The reenactor defenders of the bombers of Dresden are an intolerant sort, eh?
Their forum is a mess anyway, and they have had problems managing the pix over there for a while.... old style GI's and new-age tech don't mix I guess! LOL!
and they call us primitive just because we think of our tractor factories as holy ground! LOL! We have better tanks too!

Borodin, Only you can speak about the veiled threats, as you are the one that received them. However, you asked your question, they gave you their answer. You kept at it. If someone asks me a question, and I give an answer, that's it. You kept at them, in my very humble opinion, to the point that, in my eyes at least, you started to lose some credibility. If they don't want to put an RKKA POTW up, they don't want to. They do not "owe" anybody any type of "coverage", etc. To you, RKKA reenacting is very important, as it is to many who participate in it. However, the overwhelming majority of events and impressions are of the Western Front variety, and their POTW's reflected that. That is the way it was 25+ years ago, that's the way it is now, and I don't see it changing in the future. Those of us that do RKKA are not exactly run-of-the-mill reenactors, you have to admit we're a bit different. To be honest, I'm just as glad that they don't run RKKA pics very often, as I don't want the "hairstyles and attitudes" that infect some over there creeping in to our niche.
Yuri PS: BTW, I have no horse in this race being neither friends or enemies of the mods over there.

Komrade Boridin, 'That' forum has always been a GI - centric la la land... I got kicked off for protesting their level of censorship! LOL! They are idolworshippers..... When you enter their site, abandon any belief that they operate using any form of objective logic... you are entering the realm of a cult, with rules of mythology and concenus, and not fact or reason... and if you question their faith in their hokey shrine of GI/allied infallibility, you are branded a heretic. They think D-day was the esential act that won the war, and basically ignore the Pacific, the Med, and the GPW, where most losses were suffered. Burma Campaign? where is that? Never heard of that... who was Stilwell... one of ours? no kidding... That's their level of interest in anything other than D-day plus one and jumping out of C-47's...They are lost in the realm of hollyweird, and happily fritter away the hours smoking the GI hookah on their olive drab la la land island of lost souls. The only thing that is more vicious than a GI defending his myth is a lioness defending her cubs! But the lioness is justified, the GI is not! LOL! Oh. I forgot... also vicious is a hoodrat hunched over a crack pipe in mid-toke... let him finish smoking his rock if you value your life... he will happily hand it to you afterwards... if you refill it! Just think of the GI's as having a huge OD rock that they smoke all day and seemingly can't live without... it makes up for the fact that they will never know the joys of being in a unit with real horses, like ours, or swell uniforms, like the Axis have. Poor bastards! LOL! They do have nice swing bands though at their parties, I'll grant them that. Glen Millers loss was felt by all. And their small arms are tops in my book. John Browning gave them quite an edge, deservedly or not. I would forget trying to change the way they do things over there... they are happy living in their world of smoke and mirrors and are unrepentant about it. Let them rot. I think we should put up our own pix here if possible and the forum owners/moderators would set that up. We do have that alternative and I hope the powers that be make it happen. I would email the appropo owner directly with that suggestion. Better to light our own candle in our own happy home than curse the darkness in someone else's theatre of the absurd. Nuff saidski! Tovarischi;
Valid points all.
They are a waste of my time.
I should have realized that when they asked Dima to leave.
No point in wasting time there.

"No point in wasting time there."
Borodin, Exactly. Now, that being said, I have met some nice reenactors there. There are good folks there, just like anywhere you go, however, that board, like WWII reenacting in general, is very Allies/German-centric. That is just the way it is. There are many over there I would welcome here.

Sadly, most impressions other than Gi, Brit, or German are looked at other impressions like "who are those guys?"... the other board is useful to check out event info but little else in my book. The guys who dominate it are the ones with a the most time on their hands (hence no life outside reenacting) b the biggest mouths c the emptiest minds
kinda like that in most activity on the web... devolution into a world of blogging twitter twits and faceless facebookers!
except here of course!
and if they kicked a stalwart of socialism like Dima off.... well... what can be said about such counterrevolutionary types!!!
Sadly there is not a ditch wide, deep or long enough to deal with all the ignorance in the world.
Our utopian workers paradise will have to wait.

Progress!

You could try a picture of the millennium. Some one might give a hoot enough here to get that done, in time.
