Eventually I might want to try Western Front, and Scottish is my favorite. I happen to be of Scottish descent, and Commonwealth uniforms and gear aren't very expensive.

There is an Argyle unit that shows up to the Geneseo Airshow and Odessa west front events. They might be listed at www.atthefront.com under the ww2 links section. Good buncha guys, and I seem to remember they have a piper or 2 as well. I have a touch of Scots in me backround too, laddie! Vlad ps just checked, and yes there is, its an Argyle and Sutherland group, and there is also a Black Watch group.

My last name is Phillips, which is Welsh (still a Celt though, like the Scots and the Irish) but those that moved to Scotland became Septs of the McDonalds of Keppoch and Glencoe, and also the MacKillops, so we can wear any of those 3 tartans.... that area is on the west coast of Scotland near Loch Linnhe and Ft. William.

No kilt as of yet, but I do have a tie and a Tam in 2 of the tartans we can where... I think I have the modern tartan of Glencoe's MacDonalds of the tie, and the ancient (faded) tartan for the MacDonald's of Keppoch... or maybe the other way around... with have to check.
If you like the Renaissance Festivals, the one in Sterling NY had (last time I went) a booth with authentic tartan clothes plus the books to check which ones were for which clan. There is a number of books out there as well you can get... then there is or was the "Celbration of Celts" near Albany NY every year, and a number of other Celtic Fests around the country. At some point I would like to go to the Edinburough Military Tattoo in Scotland to see that... I have seen a DVD of it and it looks awesome!
Lots to do as a Celt if you are so motivated! plus there are even some reenactors who do Battle of Culoden era stuff... met some of them at one of the Celtic Fests in my neighborhood.
If I didn't do ww2 I would probably do Ren Fests, Celt Fests, and SCA (Medieval era reenacting)... more chicks showing more T+A , more randy and ready to go than in ww2... that is the only thing I don't like about ww2.... few babes and you better learn to dance the jitterbug if you plan on landing the few who show up... they usually do GI babes, who like the jazz dances at the big events.... we have a few red army gals and a few partisan Frenchie girls at some events... but like I said, the pickens are slimmer than at Rev War, Civ War, and SCA/Ren Fest type events.
On the other hand, I was a heat casualty once at Ft. Gordon, and avoid wearing wool in the field like the plague unless it is snowing out! and Rev War and Civ War is all about sweating til you drop.... not my cup o' tea, mate! still, me likes the leather, lace and cleavage of d' lasses of d' ole country, AARRRGGGHHH!!!!

My CW unit was the 1st Louisiana Special Battalion Compnay B. We were the only unit on either side to wear cotton uniforms.
I do have two kilts, and love them both. I actually wear them all the time.
I can't see myself doing medieval. Maybe Ancient Rome...
Actually Tovarisch Vsahdneek, I've been to Italy (and loved it) and must say your Italian unit was tempting. If not for my Scottish allegiance I'd be there in a second. Who knows? Mybe I'll change my mind.

Good luck either way... if I was retired and needed more to do, I would probably put together a Commonwealth impression as well... if you ever wanna try Italian, let me know, we can probably put together a loaner kit for you to borrow should you want to join us for an event. We'll talk at Lancaster.
