Lancaster PA Airshow: Aug 21-23

"Our unit has been asked to provide additional security for the "Collins Foundation", who provides restored military aircraft from the WWII/GPW era. I have done this security detail for the Collins Foundation in the past, and it is a good detail. I especially ask all members of the KMD section to attend this event. If you can not attend both events in Aug, I would prefer the KMD section be at this airshow, as this is more a KMD type detail.

As for the rest of the Troop, the airshow is a living history event, and is a well attended event. I would like to see a good turnout for this event, as it is an opportunity to recruit, and also to interact with the public, exposing them to the trials, and tribulations of the Red Army soldier during the GPW."

Lancaster Airshow: 21,22,23 August, 2009

Seven members of the unit attended. The weather on Friday was poor, although we were able to get the tentage up before the second storm front came through.

We provided the cordon security for Collins foundation, and they were very happy with our services. The weather on Saturday was very humid, and overcast, and the public crowds were low, accordingly.

Saturday evening, although the troops celebrated the days events, it did rain, although not hard, at least until after we had turned in.

Several members of the unit got free rides in the B-17 as a bonus for our work for Collins.

Sunday, the weather was warm, sunny, and dry. It was humid, but not as much as it had been on Saturday. The public crowds were very much up, and the event was well attended. All the tentage did dry out, and we were able to put it away properly.

Overall, the Troop Capitan, and I are very pleased with the Troops performance. Both of us would like to see better participation by all members of the unit, but this event did go well.
