I think this is one of those times where you'll get as many answers as there were RKKA soldati.
A few years back we asked one veteran about plash tents and he said "We never did this, only in training."

Well Comrade horsesoldier176 , the Soviet Manuals show Norms and how to manufacture them, so these items could have been produced at a lower level than a State Production Centre. Pioneer Manuals show the size and style of Pile driving Mallets and the platform stool you stand on to give extra height. The dimensions of Plasch palatkas are included in the Manuals yet these are State Production Centre items. I look at them that there were produced at a Military District Level and below, it is unlikely an individual did it, a quota would be required and a target reached having a squad doing their own seems to be against the advantages of a Centrally Controlled Command Society, everything weighted, measured, everything is controlled. Comrades, The latest improvements to this Rezidency's scale of Issue due to 24 hr War production... Everything for the Front!. The Historical Document. And this Comrades, is me.... And Note, the Meshok see how is sized to the full Tent Fittings bag.... interesting.

Comrades, These Images have been released by the Chief Directorate of Strategic Camouflage, a Plashka pole bag, various Ration bags and a First Field Dressing all from the Iron Horse of State Production, Complex OTK-87. All to Norms laid down in strict Quotas of Mass Production.

Does anyone know how the Plasch Palatka was put together as a tent. I saw on the original diagrams that there were wooden toggles issued out with the poles, rope, and stakes; did they have anything to do with assembling tents? How exactly are the Plasch buttoned together? I'd like to put 4 together with the ends open.
