As you know my time in office is almost at an end. I will not be running as president of the HRS - 2 years was more than enough.
The point is Marlyn Fornell is planning to run as both Treasurer and Secretary (two offices - one candidate - think about it)
Just though you'd like to know about about this.
I will however not desert the HRS - I'm running as Commonwealth Rep.

Tovarisch Elliot,
I have heard about MF's intent to run prior to this.
However, if I am not mistaken there is no such position as Treasurer / Secretary. Therefore, she will have to run for one or the other.
Besides, I have a feeling that she may have some impeachment proceedings to deal with now that she is a member of the society again.
She has to answer for her actions in the past before she can move on to the future.
I do not think she realizes that yet.
On another note I see that the wonderful Lancers are are knocking at the door again.
Just add in Montecore and we will have lots of interesting events. LOL!
This should be entertaining.
Sincerely,
Dima

I have just had a set of charges land on my desk against MF - funny how our deeds good and bad come back to haunt us ;-) Talking of things coming back to haunt the decisions of the BoD: The Lancers CO raised the status of the unit informally with me some months ago. I pointed out since they had not followed our punishment and failed to maintain their membership as required by the bye-laws they were no longer an HRS unit. If they wanted to rejoin the HRS they would have to start again from scratch, but we would accept most of their existing paperwork. I heard nothing further from them. I did raise the status of the Lancers as a general point at the April BoD meeting and it was unanimously agreed by the BoD that the Lancers are no longer an HRS unit, if they wanted to become and HRS unit they would have to reapply for membership and they would be judged in light of their performance during 2006-7. Let me make this clear, since this is now the official position of the BoD: The Polish Lancers are out of the HRS. The Polish Lancers are not listed on our web-site: www.worldwartwohrs.org/Polish.htmThe Polish Lancers will not come back into the HRS on my watch because they have not played by our rules. I would point out that if I am Commonwealth Rep during 2008-10 they would be my responsibility and I for one would not endorse their membership. Endorsement by the Rep. is one of the requirements for membership. The Polish Lancers remain a unit under the TSG, or whatever it's calling itself now and as such their attendance at any HRS is entirely at the discretion of the organisers of that event. Hope this clarifies things. Now what is the Montecore? I haven’t heard of that.

Interesting Elliott.
The election is this year? My how time flies. I suppose I should renew my HRS membership. Granted I see little use for it so we'll see. $25 seems a little expensive just to vote in the elections.
Any other early indications of people who are running?
Did anything ever come of that Soviet Rep idea?
Sorry I have been out of the HRS loop for a while, but I have had more important things to deal with. LOL

Tovarisch Elliot,
Do a Google using "Montecore" and look for a famous Tiger act.
Then apply that to reenacting and an incident involving a "tiger" mauling re-enactors at an event.
I am sure you can put the pieces together. I have confidence in you. LOL!
Sincerely,
Dima

Tovarisch Elliot,
Well I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of the Lancers at HRS events just as they have been doing in the past.
As I have stated before(and have been correct) as long as the Lancers are permitted to act as they do more people will be injured by their actions.
I can assure you that as a dues paying member who follows the rules, if I am injured by the Lancers while attending an HRS event then there will be a terrible price to pay by all parties involved.
Everyone is aware of the risk they pose and the long history the Lancers have with reckless behavior so plausible deniability is out the window.
Sincerely,
Dima
