Here is the post from the yahoo groups...
Subject: Marion, KY Eastern Front tactical event
I'd like to extend a cordial invitation for everyone to attend the Eastern Front tactical event at Marion, KY scheduled for 11-12 May 2007. This event is hosted by the 8th Guards Mechanized Corps and the 10th Kompanie Infanterie Regiment "Gross Deutschland".
Cost is $20.00
There is no pre-registration.
BATF address: 2475 Highway 387 Marion, KY 42064 Crittenden County
Times: The gates will be locked at 0800 (8:00 AM Saturday). No admittance and no exceptions after that time. If you are late you'll be told to leave, it's ridiculous to have the participants who arrive on time being held up by those folks who seem to think that the start time for the event means changing into their gear while everyone else waits on them. Safety briefings will be conducted by the respective sponsoring units at 0830. Following that, forces will move to their defensive sites and begin combat operations.
The site is somewhat remote so bring whatever food, water, or comfort items you need. There is plenty of room for camping. There is no electricity or water available at the site. The town of Marion is about 10 miles away with motels, etc., if you're more inclined to spend your time there instead of sleeping/eating on the site. I would STRONGLY recommend hosing down your uniform with Permethrin, an aerosol insecticide readily available at sporting goods stores, WALMART, and a wide variety of other sources. In addition I'd recommend applying "CHIGG AWAY" to your body. This is a wooded area so there are a variety of insects who are anxiously awaiting their next meal. This is not meant to deter you from attending but rather to allow you the opportunity to prepare accordingly. The Russian front had lice, we have ticks.
As far as vehicles, the site is not very conductive to vehicular movement. There are no real roads (just one trail) on the site, very heavily vegetated, and very little area to actually drive around in.
The site has trench systems with bunkers located at opposing ends of the property. Additional improvements to the existing positions are allowed and highly encouraged.
Directions: Depending upon your starting point I guess the best bet is Mapquest.com. Marion is located in western Kentucky roughly 20 miles north of the intersection of I-24 and the Western Kentucky Parkway.
If coming from the West or South, take I-24 and get off at exit 40. Go East on Highway 62 through Eddyville and turn onto Highway 641North (there are overhead flashing caution lights at this intersection and an antique store on your left) and head for Marion. Once in Marion, proceed into town on Highway 641. When you arrive at the stoplight by the county courthouse, (brick building with a gazebo next to it) turn North (left) on Highway 91. Proceed 8.2 miles until you reach Highway 387. Turn right onto Highway 387 and go 2.4 miles. The site will be on your right. Look for the sign.

I'll gladly attempt to answer any questions that you might have regarding the event. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me or call me at 931-648-4252. For those interested in participating as a Godless Bolshevik contact Don King at dmitri@.... I hope to see you all soon.
