Comrades, What is the general interest in doing Red Army from post WWII phase? Any? I got to thinking about it again after the Charles City event and seeing Bob Hill who attends as cold war british with his ferret armoured car. It's been 16 years since the fall of the USSR. Seems like just yesterday. With books coming out all the time about the cold war, I see potential for continuing public education. I reckon this would be more for us living history folks, though I suppose we could do tacticals. You lose, I nuked you. LOL So would it be worth exploring setting up a living history unit? I know there is a group in the south land that does "modern" soviet paratrooper. I am wondering about the interest in just run of the mill mechanized infantry, Germany or Afghanistan, you name it. Maybe there is no interest. But I am buying the stuff now while it's dirt cheap. Oh and when I use the term modern, I mean the scope of post Korean War to Fall of the USSR. I know there is no longer a USSR. Hehehehe Perhaps the era between WWII and Korea, but that's boring cause we could use WWII uniforms. I like fun new uniforms. ;D Later -dave

I laughed when some guys on the other forum wanted to do early 80's US Army. I never would think anyone would want to reenact me.
I am going into some more WW2 stuff, so I won't be doing this at the moment.
As you state, I believe there are some people that do some Speztnaz stuff.

I got my 52-5 size 1972 dated soviet tunic. Fits perfect. Looks like I am set. LOL
I found a site in russian of photos from the vets of the Afghan war. Very interesting pics. Lots of six pocket tunics and camo there.
I think I will go with standard mechanized infantry 1970-80's in East Germany or Europe. I just need to look at an OOB and decide which of the many to chose from.
We can reenact 1989. Oh what a terrible shame, we are stuck in Germany with no way to get home to Russia. Hey you wanna trade those blue jeans for vodka? 3 pairs will get you my AK. LOL

I have a 70's/80's Motor rifles impression and a bunch of Afghanistan stuff that I've never worn. Me and some friends talked/joked about doing a "Berlin Wall" setup at a living history, them doing US with me doing Soviet (plus there's some East German guys we always run into). The Americans sit around listening to 80's music (best event ever!) while me and the East Germans give them the evil eye and harass the public all day for not having their travel papers in order.
