Great tent, got one sadly they are not longer available from the 'guide... wish they were, though, the price can not be beat for what you get!

Tovarischi,
I encourage folks to keep checking in at Sportsmansguide from time to time.
They do get the tents restocked and the price is darn good.
So save your Rubles and be ready to jump on one when they become available.
Sincerely,
Dima

I hope you are right and these tents are restocked at some point, they are cheap, rugged, period, and can be set up by a few soldats relatively quickly, plus they hold up well based on their design if you use ALL the poles and pegs to tie it down... they will not blow over in a high wind like has happened to me with other tents. . . and they are authentic too, with various stamps on them in Russian script.
On thing I have noticed about the 'Guide', is if they have a good peice of gear or uniform items that are uselful to reenactors, they sell out FAST!!! so you have to check in on thier website a few times a week minimum to keep up on things... lotsa times if you wait until it gets posted in the catalogue you will be SOL. I joined "Gary Olin's Club" and you get the email specials sent to you with coupon codes and that way you can get in on the deals ASAP. if you buy over 100 $ of stuff you can use the 10$ coupon, and if you are a club member you get 10% off, so you can end up getting some really great deals....not plugging them so much as sharing how to maximize the benefit of shopping online with that company... and online gets the better shipping rate also... pretty quick. Return policy is pretty good to. I think since I have started shopping with the Guide I have dropped 10 k!!! LOL!!! but as a result have saved over 1 k by being a club member.

SG has offered the small tan canvas tent three times, and the larger green canvas HQ tent at least twice.
My troop has one of the larger tents as our HQ section tent. Tried to get our troopers to go in for a squad tent, or two.
No dice.
OK, so sleep in the rain, and snow doesn't hurt me.

I checked at the end of April, and just now, . . . . . no joy. I do wish they would restock them. Yuri

I don't have proof yet -- beyound 1945 Stalingrad and some 1945 post war photos. There may have been some rectangular and square tents (similar to US tents of the period) in use for Squads and bigger. I'll see what I can find and will post photos, then.

There's this tent in the background here. Though it's not too clear. There are few tents in here www.mannerheim-line.com/hospital/hospital_main.htm though it's a hospital so maybe not much use for a section tent. This might be a better view at a gig near Izborsk, Pskovskaya Oblast.

Sasha, I have seen some of those designs in different period photos, plus some others that resemble: US M1934 Tents and US Hospital Ward Tents. Others that resemble US Sibley tents with walls, Indian Tipis or others that look like British Bell tents. Has anyone been able to locate anything like a RKKA Tent manual -- like the US Tent Manual? I've seen the stuff out of the manuals posted showing how to build big tents out of Plasch -- bigger than 6 man tents. Has anybody tried any of those designs? Photos please. It looks like (according to the manuals) you'd just need a wood frame and lots "O" Plasch. It looks like RKKA tents lean toward the Marquee type tent designs, but are just different enough it'd be hard to modify one (from say... Tent-smiths) for use. Sturm only has these designs left: This one looks like one in your photo 'cept in OD. www.sturm-miltec.de/search/en/Used-Equipment/5000/Tents-&-Camping/5040/RUSS.ZELT-5-X-5-M.GEST%C3%84NGE-GEBR./91423200/RUSS.ZELT-5-X-5-M.GEST%C3%84NGE-GEBR..htmI've seen some in photos like this to. www.sturm-miltec.de/search/en/Equipment/2000/Tents-&-Camping/2050/ARMEEZELT-PE-CANVAS-4,8X4,8-M-OLIV/14222001/ARMEEZELT-PE-CANVAS-4,8X4,8-M-OLIV.htm I guess I'm just thinking "out-loud" of ideas for future RKKA reenactors since the Soviet Squad type tents seem to have dried up. Here is another option that hit me after looking at Red Army Manuals on-line. As long as you can gather the required number of Plasch, a collapsible/ Portable wood frame should be easy to make out of Saplings from the woods or Home Depot's lumber yard.. DaaHVeeD Attachments:
