Tovarischi,
Over the years several of us have discussed the neat little Soviet device known as the 37mm Spade mortar.
Its a spade....its a mortar....no it is a spade mortar.
Neat concept but we all wondered just how much did such an item get used and by whom.
Well while in the course of researching VVS and VDV glider operations I ran across a memoir of a glider pilot who wrote about them.
According to the pilot he lists out one of the supply loads he took in to a partisan unit behind Geman lines. Part of his load consisted of spade mortars. Needless to say that caught my attention.
So it appears that at least some partisans were getting this wicked little device.
When time permits I will get his recollection of the mortars posted.
Sincerely,
Dima 9th Airborne

Comrade crazydima, This would be in order, the Partisans did seem to be supplied obsolete/difficult and over complicated Weapon Systems which the Glorious RKKA had rejected for the above reasons.
Waste not what can have any capability to kill Gitlerites.
