Greetings Frontoviks!
Our first eastern front tactical event at the Odessa site was a success, in terms of a variety of factors:
1
Everyone I know got lotsa trigger time and had a great time
2
No one as far as I know got injured or lost/broke any major gear
3
the weather, though hot for April, was sustainable as the event staff was wise to cut the day into 4 scenarios, and provided access to more water and ammo between each scenarios
4
authenticity standards for all but the newest reenactors were met
5
action was fast and furious
6
the terrain yielded a variety of interesting tactical manuevering
7
there were enough heavy weapons in the mix to make it fun and realistic
8
there was near parity between RKKA and Axis forces... neither side had a clear tactical advantage in numbers, and each side had about a platoon, enough for a fun time.
9
both sides were ably led and deployed
10
tenting areas were adequate and the public was no where to be seen.... no problems with the locals... a minimum of farbe suff in the tenting area
11
both sides fought hard all day... no slackers!!!
12
morale was high, and the RKKA fought its way to a victory!!!
and these were not farbe units the RKKA went up against, but some of the best Axis Units in the NE!
On behalf of the Odessa event committee, thanks to all the Frontoviks and Soldaten who attended our first of many Eastern front events here at the Odessa Site, where we have had many west-front events in the past. Without you and your participation, it would not have been such a success. We hope you all tell your friends who could not make it how good a time you have so we can have even more participation next year... the more the merrier!
