Comrades,
WWII weekend at Historic Fort Snelling. Good living history event and Russian Friendly.
We'll be camping outside the Fort in the usual area. The germans will also be outside and the GI's will be in the fort. Awesome spectator attendance. Of all the events I have attended, this one is one of the top tourist draws.
This year we have asked the powers that be to invite the local russian speaking veterans of wwii out. Hopefully some of them will show up to see us. There is a large group 100+ of them residing in the Twin Cities. It would be so nice to share time with them.
Website is coming once I track it down. Dahveed, do you have the link?
Fun event.

This is the site Joe Erdmann put up: hometown.aol.com/jle130/index.htmlI believe Gale James is going to try and get the Red Army vets to come out to Ft. Snelling -- if that's the case this my be my first Red Army appearence at the Ft. Snelling event -- my GI stuff might be shelved this year. Outstanding Dave. As I mentioned on your group, getting the vets there would be awesome. I'd even like to let them have one on one time with all the gear I'll pack.
As I have seen at past events, a piece of gear is a doorway. The vet sees it, and the stories attached to it come forth. And we are much better for it. More times than not it is a pleasant memory, but there are also sad memories.
Even if it's just one or two GPW vets, or a hundred, all are important. I will even let the non-eastern front vets check it out.
And that is what really counts.
