I have seen similar phones. I have both the early, and late war style Red Army field phones. They are almost identical to the German style, as the Germans did much of the R&D, and early production on Soviet territory, in the pre-conflict times, while the Versailles treaty was still being enforced.

I have a hard time keeping kids, especially from beating on the keyboard. I try to set it up on a field desk. then have someone sit at it, like a clerk typing reports, or orders, or something.
