You can be heavy in the Cav with us... just need a bigger horse! LOL! Then you can be Heavy Cavalry! LOL!
Its just the huge paras that get me to laughing! I never saw the point frankly... as Boridim said, there are no elite reenactors, just guys who do it better or worse, regardless of the unit they represent.
Authenticity is relative in this sport-hobby... a guy who is the right age, weight, height, attitude with a basic kit is going to look the part more than an old outtashape duffer like myself regardless of my kit unless I do an oldster impression, like an old Sgt Major, General, or some kind of reservist, Volksturm, etc.
I do this for fun and to keep my youthful spirit of learning alive, and not to impress anyone. It's a great hobby that for me brings together lotsa things I like to do, firearms, history, camping, collecting, commeraderie, wargaming, partying in the boonies, etc. And as a vet, I missed deploying to the field for training, so this gives me a taste of what I used to do and helps me maintain the edge I got in the service. Stay alert! Stay alive!
