Komrades; Here are pictures of a Red Army issue, French M-26 Adrian style helmet. From what my friend could find out from the women selling the helmet, her grandfather had been in the Red Army, and was one of the "Volunteers" who was sent to fight with the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War. When the Red Army units were withdrawn, the troops brought most of the equipment back with them. Once back in the Soviet Union, the helmets were adapted for use by the Red Army. I got this from a friend who lives in St. Petersburg, and works for an oil company. He, and I were in the U.S. Army together, and were roommates for a time. He knows I have an interest in this stuff, so when he finds it, he ships it to me. I do not know exactly where he got this, and another similar helmet, but he shipped them to me. Here is the Officers helmet as I received it. In this first picture, I have already removed the Officers cockade.

Komrade Conley;
The liner is the Prairie Flower Leather Company Adrian Style liner for the Russian Adrian helmet. Steffan did the research, and it is correct. Keep in mind, that this is also a helmet (the original ones) that were manufactured in France, given to the Republican forces in the Spanish Civil War, issued to the Red Army "Volunteers", and taken with them back to the Soviet Union, after the Republican forces lost the war.

Nice job. I from time to time see adrians in the local milsurp store and thought about doing as you have done. Just need to find the time.
Kudos on a great looking helmet.

Tovarischi,
I recently purchased an American 1917-A1 repop helmet from them and it is very nice.
Well worth the money!!!
The liner is not a difficult or complicated design and for those of us with tinkering skills it wouldn't be hard to make one on your own.
After seeing this project I am getting the itch to do one myself. Is there a place to get the proper soviet star plate for the helmet?
Sincerely,
Dima

Tovarisch Dima;
The one in these pictures is the Officers grade helmet. The star cockade came with the helmet, when my friend shipped it. It looked to me like the same star cockade that is normally used on Officers visor caps. It was installed in the shell through a small hole. The mounting pins went through the hole, and were bent inside in the same manner as it would have been affixed to a hat, or pilotka.
The edges of the cockade were severely worn, so I painted the edge the same color as the helmet was painted, just so it would blend.
I am almost done with the other helmet that came in the same box as this officers one. I did that one as an enlisted version.
As soon as it is complete, I will post pictures of that one as well.
