Comrades; Here are pictures of the ruck I use, in addition to a common meshok. The stamps has a faint hammer, and sickle, and what appears to be the date 1936, but it is not clear. Does anyone recognize the style? Leshod

Well it may well have been German, or Italian made, but it has a Soviet proof mark, complete with Cyrillic writing, it also has a small triangular proof mark with a hammer, and sickle, and it was found in the former Soviet Union at a flea market.
Please do not misunderstand, I am not arguing with you, just pointing out what I do know about the ruck.
If it is not actually Soviet made, then why would it have Soviet proof marks?

Lotsa green leather could mean either Italian WW2 or maybe French origin... Could it be a reparation confiscated ruck that then had a Soviet arsenal-proof-ID mark put on it? most armies put their proof marks-arsenal marks on gear after it was captured for inventory purposes among other things.
Not doubting its authenticity, just adding some commentary based on my knowledge of armies and how they treated captured equipment, and as a person who also does Italian reenacting who has a fair amount of their gear and has studied it.
On a side note, I just watched "Cross of Iron" for about the 5th time and this time bothered to look at the gear again, and the Russian soldats are mostly wearing Italian ww2 helmets that are painted faded aqua-green... I know this based on the style of rivit/airholes, their placement, the shape, and the color (I also have a ww2 Italian helmet that looks just like these).
The film I believe was made in the 1977, in parts of what was once called Yugoslavia. And so it does not surprise me that they used alot of gear that would have been available to Tito's postwar state based on what they captured at war's end... and that would include Italian gear.
I merely mention this not necesarily to question this pieces 'periodness' but rather to caution that not everything with a soviet stamp is of ww2 soviet origin or even made there... and we all know there are less than scrupulous vendors out there or ones that are less informed than are we who are more rigorous collectors and historical researchers.
Many of them are businessmen first, even if they are happy to 'get informed' by us... as many are. I myself have on occaision instructed various vendors on the nature of what they were selling. I do not do this to brag, but merely to illustrate that we should not assume our vendors are always on top of the knowledge curve on everything they sell, and some items may have origins in time or place other than any markings or stampings on them.

I can believe that this ruck was captured, and re-issued. I can believe that someone used a Soviet proof stamp to create an "authentic" fake.
I was just hoping that it was a real one.
Oh well. looks like I got my monies worth.
