Odessa, NY Russian Front event

From the RKKA group (ODessa is a fun area to have an East Front event):

The 272nd Fussiliers will be hosting the first ever Russian front event at Odessa April 24th - 26th 2009. For those of you who have been to the Western front event you know what a great site it is. Reenactors can arrive on site Friday, period camping gear is not a must. Authenticity in the field is. Porta johns will be provided on site, there will be no food vendors so bring your own. The website for Odessa is www.odessaevent.com there is no Russian front info there yet but you can contact Scott Thompson the event organizer there. I hope we can generate enough interest in this event since its getting harder to find places for good tacticals.Any units that are interested and have questions please feel free to email me at [e-mail] and I will try to find answers for you. Greetings Comrades!

The name for the event will be "Operation Debrecen" and there is a very nice article on wikipedia that relates the timetable of the actions of the 2nd Ukranian Front which combined armies of the RKKA and the Roumanians. They faced a German Wehrmacht, SS, and Hungarian force that was reconstituting itself after the Roumanian exodus from the Axis Camp.
The terrain we are going to use at Odessa for this one will be very interesting

remember, if coming to the Odessa event "Operation Debrecen" bring lotsa water with you for the whole time you will be there, for all uses... and of course, as much ammo as possible!!!
